Location: Jemez Mountains, Hwy. 4
Rating: 3
I had always thought of this campground as being dark and wet, but seeing it in 2025 it’s been renovated and looks much better. Level paved pads and sites with fire rings and picnic tables are new. Shady. Campground is surrounded by hills, so I would think less windy than other spots. Toilets available. No electrical or water hookups. On a September weekend, there were only about five other visitors. Quiet spot. Short hikes with views of the canyon available across the street. Cross-country ski areas nearby. Bike to Jemez Falls for more hikes to hot springs. We did not see hikes that left from the campground itself. The Stellar jays and ravens were entertaining.
